About me

On this website I try to tell something about my activities, preferences and hobbies.

First of all about myself. I was Born 1974 I in Herne (NRW), but I grew up and went to School in Recklinghausen. I work as a specialist for application development. This profession I practice now for 12 years.

Maybe something to my history.

All started with a Christmas gift. In 1984 I got from my mother a Commodore C16 Plus 4 (thanks Mom!). The Money for that she had saved up hard from the mouth. What do you do as a 10-year-old child. Of course, what every 10 years old child would do - Gambling.

Now 1984, the term "gambling" was something different than it is today. They had games on cartridges, the so-called Datasette. For the younger readers: these were magnetik tapes. So things that you also could use for listening music and then on the road used in the 80s in the  Sony Walkmen. That was the MP3 player of our generation.

Well, so if you wanted to play a "game",  you put one of that cartridges into the drive and started that game with a command. Now you waited around 10 minutes before the game was loaded. One was happy, if you could a couple of rough pixel move  across the screen with the arrow keys. If you had completed a level, it needed to be recharged. The recharging takes the next 10 minutes. Yes, the good old time. So you had a lot of time. This stupid loading annoyed me fairly quickly. Hi, I was a 10 years old boy and patience I had his time not determined. But I wanted to know what's behind the whole. So I started to type up programs from computer magazines. After weeks of typing you tried to correct correct your typing errors in weeks of work. Those who had not given up until now, even managed sometimes a running program to get out. That was an experience. This seems to have influenced me somehow. I came quickly to the C64. And at some point even with a floppy disk drive. 5 1/4 inch floppy with 512KB (Yes! Kilobytes!) memory. The Amiga I have skipped and came directly to the Commodore PC10. I have rebuild it to a PC20. Now I had a 20MB hard drive. So I really was the King. The hard disk sounded indeed as would start a Helikopter in my room, but  finally had to go further. In this time I began to develop my own programs. My favorite programming language was Turbo Pascal in this time.

Then I went to a University of Applied Sciences to become a electrical engineers with technical assistants in data technik. (The "Information" as today there was not yet in Germany ). How is that in life just the way other things than learning were more important. And I have not seen at that time the development of the IT way. So I skipped the University and opened short hand a trucking company. This I had to close, however, after major setbacks. However, I have annoyed me most of the time about the fact that I could not do what I loved - writing programs. After forwarding, I then sold in a flower wholesale and was even more unhappy. This company go out of business  (I had nothing to do with it).

That was the first time in my life I had now job and went to the employment office. Thanks to a great employee, I got a second chance to make my degree in computer science. I have taken this opportunity and so went back to the University.

Then I was able to expand my practical skills in a game developer companie. I worked about 5 years in game development. At some point we also start to developed copy protection technologies for CD and movie DVD's. It was a stressful time, but I don't want to miss it. After this company also go out of Business, (also hereby I had nothing to do with it), I started, there where I am today, in a security printing company. There I program machine controls and above all I have programmed there a complete ERP system. So all interconnected from goods receipt to the customer. Giant databases etc.

In addition to my professional activities I started Modell flying 20 years ago, which is one of my great passions today. For this purpose, you will read more at another location.

So you see, my interests go beyond computer science to build electronics on the aerodynamics to the CNC milling to build my planes.

Sun Up to this point. On other pages I will you tell more.
